IndividualTherapy

"It is our mind and that alone, that chains us or sets us free. "

Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

Many of us long for a deeper connection with others, and with ourselves. If you are feeling caught in old patterns of relating and your efforts at self help aren’t working, therapy could help you become more intellectually and emotionally aware of the underlying sources of difficulty.

Starting therapy can be a difficult decision especially given how much value our society places on self reliance. Thinking about sharing your life experience with someone you don’t know can be intimidating. However, if you are looking at this website you are probably contemplating giving therapy a try. I do both short and longer term therapy depending on the needs of the client. My approach is existential, psychodynamic and DBT oriented. My aim is to help improve quality of life: to enhance skills to be more effective in your life at getting your needs met, to reduce suffering, and to develop the ability to appreciate and lead a more meaningful life.

My areas of counseling expertise include:

  • Depression
  • Addiction Recovery
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Addiction/recovery Issues
  • Parenting Issues
  • Grief and loss issues ( including empty nest, losing a job, or a parent, or chronic illness)
  • life transition issues
  • individuals dealing with issues of aging/mid life crisis
  • DBT Skills training
  • EMDR for working with issues around trauma

These are just some of the issues that can be addressed in individual therapy.

I encourage you to call or come for a consultation session to help determine if therapy is right for you and if I, as a psychotherapist, will be a good fit for you.
